première édition, 2 feuillets, 88 pages, petit in-4 oblong (19 x 27 cm), entièrement gravée, dédicace, épître, nom manuscrit du propriétaire sur la dédicace "Zenetti", veau du XVIIIe siècle, page de titre manquante, déchirure pp. 3 et 45 affectant la gravure, petit trou et petite déchirure à la marge inférieure de la page 83, titre de la fugue page 86 très légèrement rogné, quelques petites taches et traces, quelques coins cornés.

La première publication d'oeuvres du principal compositeur pour clavier à Vienne au début du XVIIIème siècle.
De le plus grande rareté : Nous n'avons retrouvé que deux éditions de ce compositeur en vente aux enchères pendant les dernières quarante années. De cette présente édition,17 autres exemplaires sont enregistrés au RISM, dont 5 sont incomplets et quelques autres n'ont pas la page de titre.
Gottlieb Muffat, fils du compositeur et organiste allemand Georg Muffat (1653-1704), fut organiste à la cour de l'Empereur Charles VI à Vienne. Les fugues et les toccatas de cette collection de pièces pour clavier révélent l'influence qu'a eut son maitre, Johann Joseph Fux, sur Muffat. Le compositeur reconnait d'ailleurs cette influence dans sa préface.

Of the utmost rarity. We have traced only two editions of this composer at auction during the last forty-five years. Of this edition, RISM records 17 other copies, 5 of which are in some way incomplete, a number lacking the title-page..
Gottlieb Muffat, son of the German composer and organist Georg Muffat (1653-1704), was organist at the court of Emperor Karl VI in Vienna. The fugues and toccatas in this collection of keyboard pieces reveal Muffat's debt to his teacher Fux, a debt which he acknowledges in the preface.
