Cet ouvrage rare contient des vers remarquables pour ballet royal d'Isaac de Benserade, livretiste et auteur de pièces de théatre. Ce ballet, dont la musique fut composée par Lully, fut représenté pour la première fois le 7 février 1662 à la Salle des Machines aux Tuileries à Paris. Il fut interpreté entre les actes de Ercole amante de Cacalli, un opéra à l'origine commandé pour le mariage de Louis XIV et Marie Thérèse d'Autriche.

. One of the most notable of the, librettist and playwright, Isaac de Benserade's royal ballet verses. With music by Lully, this ballet was first performed on 7 February 1662 at the Salle des Machines in the Tuileries, Paris, between the acts of Cavalli's Ercole amante, an opera originally commissioned to mark the occasion of the wedding of Louis XIV to Maria Theresa of Spain.
