Il s'agit de la première édition donnée par Le Roy et Ballard de la collection des motets en quatre et huit parties de Lassus. Le présent ouvrage contient le premier tirage de 'Beati pauperes spiritu' et plusieurs tirages d'autres motets postérieurs. En plus de la partie pour tenor, ce volume contient les parties vocales pour second soprano et seconde basse des cinq motets en huit parties.
Il s'agit de la première édition donnée par Le Roy et Ballard de la collection des motets en quatre et huit parties de Lassus. Rare: only one complete copy of all five parts is recorded in RISM (in Madrid). We have no record of this edition being offered at auction. This is the first edition of Le Roy & Ballard's collection of four- and eight-part motets by Lassus; it contains first and early issues of 'Beati pauperes spiritu' and several other early motets. In addition to the tenor part, this volume includes the second soprano and second bass voices for the five eight-part motets found at the end.
