Catalogue Note
These editions are of the utmost rarity. The manuscript of the Organ Sonata is apparently unrecorded in the CPE Bach literature. The second concerto here was published in Nuremberg by Schmid, who had also served as publisher for Emanuel’s “Württemberg” Sonatas and J.S. Bach’ Goldberg Variations. J.G. Müthel was J.S.Bach’s last pupil and also was taught by CPE Bach. Only one other copy of Müthel’s concertos is recorded by RISM.
