Rodelinda fut créé au King's Theatre de Londres, le 13 février 1725. Oeuvre dramatique dont le drame n'est pas sans ressemblance avec celle de Fidelio, elle est généralement considérée comme étant l'un des plus beaux opéras de Handel.
