Catalogue Note

Parmi toutes les éditions, seule une partie d'alto a survécu dans une bibliothèque française. Cette collection comprend le fameux 'Super flumina Babilonis' de Gombert, avec des groupes vocaux variés, à la manière de Josquin. Une pièce ('Virgo prudentissima') est attribuée à Nicolas Payen (v.1512-1559), et la dernière est attribuée à un "auteur incertain".


Only the alto part (from any edition) survives in a library in France. The collection includes Gombert's celebrated 'Super flumina Babilonis', with varied voice-groupings in the manner of Josquin. One piece ('Virgo prudentissima') is here attributed to Nicolas Payen (c.1512-1559) and the last is attributed to an "incerto autore".
