Condition
The canvas is not lined. A close inspection reveals some scattered hairline craquelure, notably towards the left of the upper edge and running horizontally from the left edge. There is some light old frame-rubbing and a small network of stable shrinkage in the central part of the composition. There is a small media stain to the lower part of the left edge which fluoresces under UV light but otherwise there is no evidence of retouching. There are two thin lines of fluorescence to the left of each figure's legs which are almost certainly pentimenti. This work is in good original condition.
