Description

  • porcelain
each with deep rounded sides rising from a straight foot to a flared rim, painted to the central interior with a medallion enclosing a carp leaping from waves, the well and the exterior with fish swimming amid waterweed and aquatic plants

Exhibited

From the Tang to the Qing: Chinese Ceramics from circa 618-1850 A.D. from the Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Peter Thompson, Hull University, Hull, 1996, cat. no. 100.

Condition

Both in good condition. Both rims with small glaze inclusions, glaze flakes and minor frits, and one with a 2mm rim chip. One with a small glaze pull above the foot; the other with a 10mm firing crack and associated glaze flake to the foot ring. The enamels on both in good order.
