Description

  • porcelain
the tapering cylindrical body flanked by a pair of lion mask handles, surmounted by a short waisted neck, the exterior incised with leafy floral sprays, together with a small inscribed Dehua sleeve vase

Exhibited

Chinese Ceramics of the Transitional Period (circa 1620-1680 A.D.) from the Collection of Mr & Mrs Peter Thompson, Hull University, Hull, 1985, cat. nos 27 and 39.

Condition

The larger vase: five small glaze flakes to the rim; scattered iron spots and pin pricks to the glaze. The smaller vase: rim polished; otherwise in good condition.
