Description

of deep 'U'-shape set with chilong handles, resting on a short straight foot, finely carved in low relief, one side with a spray of orchids issuing from a rocky ground, the other with stems of bamboo and linghzi, the chilong handles finely detailed with the archaistic dragons resting their snout against the rim and their scrolling body forming a square loop below, the quatrefoil barbed stand resting on four bracket feet and centred with raised flat pedestal carved with a recessed shou medallion, the translucent stone of an even white tone with subtle icy streaks and finished to a smooth polish

Condition

The cup and the stand are both in good condition, with only a couple of nicks to the footring of the cup, and a natural flaw with inclusions on the base and the border of the shou medalion inside the stand. The actual colour is quite close to the catalogue illustration.
