Provenance

Collection of Ichiro Hayashibara (1908-1961).

Condition

The front panel loosely fits to the cabinet and can detach. It has several age cracks and some relacquering to the corners. The head of the left scholar on the footbridge is restored. Besides few other age cracks around the cartouche panels on the top and the sides, further secured with light touch up or relacquering, the cabinet itself is in quite good condition. There is some repainting to the lacquer on the dividing stretchers on the interior. There is a minute chip to the leaves of one wutong tree of the carved scene on the reverse and two other small nicks to the diaper ground and keyfret border. There are flakes to the black lacquer covering the underside corner feet.
