Description

the oval plaque finely carved in shallow relief, one side with a recessed circular panel of a women looking at herself in a mirror while brushing her hair, seated at a table near a window with an open folded curtain, the reverse with a four column poetic inscription below a flowering apricot tree, reading Wanzhuang loushang xinghuanong, gengzi chudong xiexihuchu ('Putting on makeup for the evening upstairs when the apricot flowers blossom fully, written in the early winter of the gengzi year at the West Lake'), the translucent stone of an even white tone and a smooth polish, pierced and set with a later silk cord and red glass bead
