A CARVED JADE 'LINGZHI' BRUSHWASHER QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

Description

in the form of a large lingzhi head, naturalistically carved with a gnarled leafy branch on the underside sprouting four additional smaller fungus, one of the attendant sprigs terminating with an entwined curling tendril, the greyish-beige translucent stone polished to a soft glow with patches of brown inclusions

Condition

The main ruyi has a small section slightly polished down in addition to a few minor nicks to the edges. There are also some bruises including a 4 mm polished down chip to the tip of a tendril and a few nicks to the edges of some leaves on the underside, some expected pitting to the calcified areas, but overall the washer is in good condition. The actual colour is slightly more yellowish than the catalogue illustration.
