the pebble carved in the form of a recumbent buffalo with its legs tucked under its reclining body, its head turned to the left while grasping in its mouth a spray of leafy reeds, its bushy tail curling over his haunch forming a compact composition, the smoothly polished stone with a patch of russet skin cleverly enhancing the back and the head of the beast

There is some wear to the stone, especially on the right of the buffalo's head. Otherwise the overall condition is quite good. The stone has some brown and russet inclusions, and its actual colour is very similar to that of the catalogue illustration.
