bidding is closed

Description

carved with five children clambering around a large magnolia flower, dressed in a loose jacket and pants, with a smiling face surmounted by braided hairs, one carrying another on his head in an acrobatic pose, another boy standing on the cup's gnarled stem, clutching a prunus branch and lifting another child holding a lotus on his shoulders, the fifth waving a large gnarled branch of peony above him, the translucent amber with minor inclusions and a warm russet tone

Condition

There is a chip to the hind legs and rear body of the harlequin bug sitting on top of the rim as well as a chip to the extremity of one furled petal of the large magnolia flower forming the vase. There is a bruise of 1.5 cm to the edge of an adjacent petal. There is an age crack of 4 cm to the rim running along the back of the boy, possibly stabilised with a clear resin. Apart from some other minor nicks and bruises, the overall condition is quite good. There is residue of an old glue on the branch at the bottom, possibly resulting from attachment to a stand.
