Description

of rectangular form supported on bracket feet, the top delicately carved and undercut with an archaistic panel centered by angular 'C'-scrolls forming a quatrefoil medallion flanked by two pairs of confronting kui dragons, the sides incised with key-fret, the base revealing a recessed quatrefoil panel undercut with a vertical lake scene of houses on stilts below gnarled pines and a high mountain in the distance, the ivory well patinated with a rich yellow surface

Condition

The brushrest is overall in very good condition with only a couple of tiny nicks to the carving on the underside and expected age crackles (visible in the illustration in the catalogue).
