A MASSIVE LONGQUAN CELADON CHARGER MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY

Estimate
250,000 - 350,000 HKD
bidding is closed

Description

the deep rounded sides rising form a short tapered foot to a lipped rim, boldly carved on the interior with a spray of hibiscus spreading out with curling leaves within double circles, surrounded by leafy sprays of lotus, camellia and peonies around the cavetto, applied overall with a deep sea-green glaze draining to a paler tone at the rim, the recessed base with an unglazed ring oxidized to orange during the firing

Condition

There is a 5.5 cm hairline crack through the glaze which does not go through the entire body, so it is only visible on the interior. Apart from a few iron spots, minor grits and light scratches to the glaze on the interior, the overall condition is quite good.
