Description

of octagonal form supported on four bracket feet, the flared sides rising to an everted rim, finely carved around the exterior with undulating kui dragons and writhing phoenix transforming into peony scrolls, the flat rim with quatrefoil motifs and ruyi at the corners interlocked with scrolling leaves, the feet decorated with key-fret, all beneath a pale bluish-green transparent glaze resembling the qingbai porcelain of the Song dynasty, the base centred with the six-character seal mark in underglaze blue

Condition

There is a short 3 cm firing crack on one side of the interior, iron spots and minor kiln grits but overall the tray is in very good condition. The tray has spur marks on the interior and on the base. The actual colour is slightly greener than the catalogue illustration.
