The Snap series of paintings occupied Town from 1972 and into 1977. Using a special easel that rotated on three different planes, Town could position a canvas in any way in front of a taut string stretched between two poles. He loaded the string with pigment and then 'snapped' it, leaving blobs of pigment on the painting. The variations in scale, colour, texture, and shapes were infinite.
