Catalogue Note
In November 1882, Robert Harris moved to Rome. According to Williamson, Harris painted three studies of this subject, which was variably titled "The Gipsy Girl" and "The Italian Girl". One version, a large canvas, circa 1882, was exhibited in Toronto at the 1883 exhibition of the Royal Canadian Academy (no. 42).
