Catalogue Note
Towards the end of 1924 Gagnon returned to Europe for a third time and spent the next months preparing for the 1925 Wembley exhibition. He made several trips to Switzerland - in 1926, 1927 and 1930. L'été Dans Les Alpes was painted on his second trip after which Gagnon remarked that "rural Switzerland somewhat reminded me of Baie-Saint-Paul".
