Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There are some fine lines of faint craquelure, visible notably in the sky, which are not particularly distracting. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered spots of retouching, primarily scattered in the sky, a stroke in the back of the girl in pink reaching to take bread, spots in the blue dress of the girl to the left of her, and a spot in the forehead of the man. This work is overall in good condition, and its appearance could be further enhanced with a surface clean.Held in a decorative coved & fluted gilt frame. The greens are less saturated than in the catalogue illustration, and the blues in the sky are deeper.
