The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals extensive signs of retouching overall, notably a circa 40 by 50cm area in the upper left of the central tree and in the sky above and to the left of it, a circa 30 by 30cm area in the lower left of the trunk and in the background, and a circa 20 by 40cm area in the upper part of the hill and foliage near the right edge, with further retouching to scattered repaired tears and smaller areas. Held in a decorative gilt frame. The colours are somewhat brighter and more vibrant (notably the greens), and less red, in reality than in the catalogue illustration.
