Condition
The canvasboard is flat and even. Under ultraviolet light there are a few spots at the extreme left of the lower edge which fluoresce darkly, and are likely associated with the varnish, however they may be old minor retouches. The varnish has yellowed and become dirty over time, and the work would be transformed with a surface clean. Overall the work is in good original condition.
Held in a modern simple varnished wood frame.
The pigments of the ground and undergrowth are somewhat less saturated in reality than in the catalogue illustration, and more of a yellow-brown, and the varnish is yellower.
