Condition

The canvas has not been lined. Overall this work is in good condition. Ultraviolet light reveals spots of retouching, notably in the ground and in the Pantheon, and a spot in the extreme upper-left corner of the sky with some other tiny scattered spots in the sky. There is a tiny spot of paint flaking near the upper edge in the left half, and some minor hairline horizontal craquelure in the Pantheon, and the work may have been selectively cleaned in the past. Held in a decorative gilt frame. The catalogue illustration is overall accurate, however the pigments are somewhat deeper than in the catalogue illustration.
