Condition
The canvas has not been lined. Ultraviolet light reveals a spot of restoration in the stone to the upper right of the doorway, and a small area of old retouching to a circa 2.5cm repaired tear in the stone below the seated man. Overall this work is in good condition.
Held in an elaborate gilt 19th Century style frame, with laurel-leaf ornaments.
The catalogue illustration is overall accurate, however the red of the standing woman's dress is richer, and the architecture is less yellow in reality.
