Condition
The canvas has not been lined. Overall this work is in good original condition. Ultraviolet light reveals a couple of scattered spots of retouching, notably to paint flaking in the upper part of the white arch to the left, and addressing frame rubbing at the extreme left edge, and a tiny spot in the sky. There are some areas of discoloured varnish, notably in the sky around the moon.
Held in a decorative gilt frame.
The catalogue illustration is overall accurate, however the yellows and greens are somewhat richer in reality.
