Condition

The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals signs of retouching, primarily in the sky (notably in two areas in the clouds in the left half, the leftmost addressing an old repaired tear), and in and around the figures (notably spots in the leftmost and rightmost men, an area in the head and above the lady in pink, an area in the grass below the standing boy, and to the upper right of the kneeling man). The varnish has yellowed slightly over time and there is some hairline craquelure visible under close inspection. Held in a simple gilt frame. There is less yellow overall, and the colours are richer and deeper, in reality than in the catalogue illustration.
