Condition
The canvas has not been lined. Ultraviolet light reveals a handful of scattered spots of retouching around the centre of the sky, notably a 2 by 4cm area of restoration (patched on the reverse), and a spot in a corner of the upended keel on the shore. Apart from a faint horizontal stretcher mark along the upper edge and horizontally up the centre (the latter visible under close inspection), and some minor scattered craquelure visible in the sky under close inspection, overall this work is in good condition.
Held in a decorative gold-painted frame with floral and foliate motifs.
