Condition

STRUCTURE Original canvas. There is some craquelure near the upper right corner and some faint craquelure near the centre of the left edge and around the loch. The area around the central stag is a little thin; otherwise the work appears in good overall condition. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT Under UV light there appears to be infilling and sweeping areas of retouching in the sky, to the tip of the sunlit mountain and in the mist to its left. There are a few small spots of retouching above the deer near the right hand edge. FRAME Held in a gilt composite frame.
