STRUCTURE
The canvas has an old relining. There are three small discoloured indentations near the upper right corner. An old, minor area of paint loss centre-left of top edge, another near upper right edge and a small spot in lower left corner. There are two small infilled areas by centre of left edge and another circular area above the newspapers in lower left corner. There are a few faint areas of craquelure to the horse, only visible upon close inspection.
ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
UV light reveals an opaque varnish. There appear to be some old retouchings near the centre of top edge, to a stretcher bar mark in the central sky and some newer retouching to the above mentioned indentations and infilling.
