Condition
STRUCTURE
Original canvas. There is an area of raised paint near the upper left corner, and a very small spot of paint loss near centre of right edge. There are areas of bloom on his jacket.
ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
UIV light reveals an opaque varnish and scattered flecks of retouching across the canvas, predominantly above the chair, above the sitter's head, above right of his left shoulder and to his jacket.
FRAME
Held in a gilt composite frame.
