Condition

STRUCTURE Original canvas. There is a craquelure pattern across the surface and a repaired tear approximately 6in. long running below the girl's knees, only visible upon close inspection. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT UV light reveals an opaque varnish. There are a few very minor flecks of cosmetic retouching to the girl's face, a small area of retouching to the book and also retouching to the above mentioned repaired tear. There are a few other isolated flecks of retouching in the lower half of the work. FRAME Held in a gilt plaster frame.
