Catalogue Note
It is said that the subject of The Green Apple was a beautiful young woman who had been a professional artist’s model before marrying a man of high rank and moving abroad. On a visit to London she visited Shannon’s studio without her husband and was persuaded to pose one more time for the artist. She agreed to pose naked for Shannon on the strict understanding that her husband would not hear of her nude posing.
