Folio (17 7/8 x 11 3/8 in.; 455 x 288 mm).  Additional hand-colored lithographed title by Lauters depicting Balinese dancers surrounded by a wreath of orchids,  70 lithographed plates, 56 colored, one folding, by G. Severeyns, half-title; some spotting and offsetting, one plate oxidized.  Modern red morocco, spine gilt in seven compartments, green morocco lettering-piece, covers with gilt-ruled borders, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers.

Catalogue Note

An attractive work on the orchids of the Malay archipelago.  It was also issued with the title Flora Javae et insularum adjacentium nova series.  "It is possible that the parts of the two editions were issued almost simultaneously" (Stafleu).
