George Gershwin: A Study in American Music. New York: 1931, inscribed and signed with a musical quotation: "All the best George Gershwin Nov. 8, 1932". Accompanied by: two typed letters signed, 7 June and 2 October 1929, on Gershwin's personalized stationery engraved at head "George Gershwin 33 Riverside Drive, New York City," to Grace Morse; browning; marginal splits to center horizontal folds and two checks, one pay to the order of George Gershwin and endorsed on verso, the other pay to the order of Gershwin's biographer, Isaac Goldberg, and endorsed on verso, both New York, 7 March 1930.

Catalogue Note

A biography in the making. Gershwin writes to his literary agent at James B. Pinker & Son, Inc., Grace Morse, regarding meetings in addition to updates from his biographer, Isaac Goldberg. In his letter of 2 October 1929, he writes: "Mr. Isaac Goldberg is keeping me posted about what he is writing and I am sending as much material as I can think of for his articles." The copy of Goldberg's biography included herewith includes a musical quotation inscribed to Morse.
