Catalogue Note
Second edition in English of Discorsi e dimostrazioni mathematiche, first published in Leiden in 1638. Thomas Weston, whose Academy was located at Greenwich, home of the Royal Observatory, wrote his own Treatise of Arithmetick in addition to translating Galileo's work. Appended to the main text is a lengthy appendix of propositions and their demonstrations about the center of gravity of solids.
