Portrait and 14 plates, extra-illustrated with numerous 18th- and 19th-century portraits, views, maps and facsimiles, some of the maps hand-colored; washed, some of insertions repaired, some browning and offsetting of the additional pieces. Elaborately bound in red morocco, gilt-ruled triple fillet, with gilt-stamped presidential seal on both covers, and the letter "W" within floral stamps at four corners, backstrip similarly gilt, top edge gilt, by Sangorski & Sutcliffe for Brentano's.
