Catalogue Note

Robert Warner (c. 1815-1896) was a British orchid grower at Chelmsford. He began this series because he claimed there had been no recent publication illustrating orchids "on a scale at all commensurate with their natural grandeur." This is the first two (of three) series, originally issued in parts (1862-1865 and 1865-1875). Here the first series is issued with a new title-page.
