3 volumes, 4to (10 7/8 x 8 1/4 in.; 276 x 210 mm).  300 lithographed plates after various artists, some partially hand-colored.some foxing and spotting, dampstaining in volumes 2 and 3.  Modern half black morocco gilt, marbled boards, marbled endpapers.

Catalogue Note

First edition.  Xenia Orchidacea is a work issued in occasional volumes by the great German orchidologist Henirich Gustav Reichenbach (1824–1839) beginning in 1854.  After his death, the work was completed by Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Kränzler.
