Catalogue Note
Volume one of Fitzgerald's important work on Australian orchids in the scarce original parts. Fitzgerald's vast mass of information on orchids and collection of detailed drawings were considered so valuable that the New South Wales Government took upon itself the publication of the work. It was issued in 12 parts, comprising 7 parts to volume one and 5 parts to volume two. Fitzgerald died before the completion; the last part was in fact compiled by Henry Deane.
