Kemble, photogravure plate of a portrait bust by Karl Gerhardt (BAL state 1), title-leaf is a cancel with copyright notice on verso dated 1884 (BAL state 2); leaf 1.8 with tiny hole in the lower margin, misprinted page number on page 155 lightly circled in pencil. Publisher's green pictorial cloth stamped in gilt and black, pale peach endpapers; slight rubbing to corners, head and foot of spine, and bottom board edges. Green cloth slipcase, chemise.
