Bowen, numerous wood-engraved text illustrations of anatomical figures, half-titles and lists of subscribers in each volume, general index in vol. 7; moderate foxing to text throughout chiefly marginal, tissue guards foxed and browned with offsetting to text and about 150 plates, repair in gutter of blank recto of plate 31, some faint text offsetting to plates, fore-edge of tissue guard for plate 253 partially torn away. Publisher's burgundy morocco paneled and blocked in gilt, spine gilt in 6 compartments gilt (2 reserved for lettering and numbering) with slightly raised bands, pale blue coated floral endpapers, edges gilt; joints rubbed, spines a trifle rubbed (rubbing to head of spine of vol. 6 more pronounced) a few old scrapes to upper cover of vol. 5, marginal staining to endpapers.
