Catalogue Note

This richly adorned head-dress would have been worn as part of a larger head gown comprising various hanging ornaments including a pair of earrings in the Spanish stylistic tradtition, such as those included in this lot. For an example of such a headdress, please refer to an image published in Gonzalez 1994, p.185, no.138. The khros hanging elements bear close comparison to a further pair sold in these rooms, 16 October 1997, lot 53 (also published in Hasson 1987, p.66, no.84).
