of round form, consisting of a rich purple velvet background designed in maraş style with gold and silver metal threads depicting a palatial garden house and fountain amongst a lush landscape of floral stems, with an outer gold fringe, mounted on a canvas with a silk background and protected by a plexiglass screen
Condition
In overall very good condition, minor loss to some of the metal threads and discoloration consistent with age, few repaired threads on outer fringe, as viewed.

The present table-cover can be compared with a very similar embroidered red velvet ceremonial coffee cover in the Sadberk Hanim Museum (inv. no.3038-I.417) from the nineteenth century, (Illustrated in N. Atasoy., Splendors of the Ottoman Sultans, The Memphis International Cultural Series, 1992, p.259).
