Description
- porcelain, silver
the body of squat truncated form on a flat base, with a cylindrical neck, a serpentine arched handle and slightly curved spout with attached scrolled bracket, the spout and neck with gilt mounts, the porcelain body decorated in underglaze cobalt blue reserved on white with a band of lotus flowers and scrolling leafy stems, above a band of stylised arches containing a palmette, similar decoration to neck, the shoulder with a row of stylised hearts, the spout with a long leafy stem and stylised clouds
Condition
Broken spout mounted to cover losses, rim probably reduced and not inspected below mount, hairline crack around top of handle and chipped thumb-piece, a crack encircling the strut with associated chips where foliate bracket meets rim, minor firing imperfections and pitting, notably to lower section of spout, some wear along edge of spout and handle, as viewed.
