Catalogue Note
This calligrapher's diploma belongs to Suleyman Ghalib Bey. The text, reading a hadith of the Prophet praising the virtues of calligraphy, has been approved and signed by two of Suleyman Ghalib Bey's calligraphy teachers, Ibrahim Afif Effendi and Ibrahim Shevki Effendi, in the two separated sections in ijaze script. Among these, Ibrahim Shevki Effendi was one of the famous students of court calligrapher Isma'il Zuhdi Effendi (d.1806).
