Catalogue Note

Mehmed Rif'at Bey

Born in Istanbul in 1857, Mehmed Rif'at Bey was the son of Mehmed Ali Effendi. He worked as a chancery scribe in the palace offices and was celebrated for his mastery in thuluth and naskh. He died in 1949 and his memoirs were published, in 1946, in Istanbul.
