Description

Persian manuscript on cream paper, 927 leaves plus 3 flyleaves, 19 lines to the page, written in Nasta'liq script in black ink, headings and subheadings in gold, red and blue throughout in Naskh script, inner margins with diagonal lines of text, outer margins ruled in blue and gold, f.1a with an illuminated shamsa in colours and gold, with a delicate interlace of scrolling vines and text in white Thuluth script within lobed cartouches, corresponding opening illuminated headpiece on following folio, 3 further illuminated headings and numerous panels, red morocco binding with gilt-stamped cornerpieces and central medallion filled with scrolling flowers  

Condition

In generally good overall condition, a few pages loose, opening folio requiring repair to inner margin tears, illumination bright and pages generally clean, a few small stains, binding missing flap, as viewed.
