Sundar Das Raja Bikramajit was a highly skilled and successful administrator and military tactician under Prince Khurram (later Shah Jahan). A native of the Allahabad region, he began his career at the Mughal Court as a scribe and administrator and was made chief administrator of Gujarat. He led the Mughal army against Jam and Bihara in Kutch and played a major role in the capture of Kangra Fort in 1620, as well as in the Deccan campaign of 1621. In 1617 he was awarded the title Raja Bikramajit. He sided with Prince Khurram in his rebellion against his father Jahangir in 1623-24 and died at the Battle of Bilochpur. (see Welch et al 1987, no.32, pp.96-97, 146-7, 150).
